Our People
Who We Are
Who We Are
Tameem
Partner Chicago
I originally worked in finance before pursuing law. Since joining Mayer Brown, I've always had the support to help me grow from day one. So, I've made sure that as I got more senior, my management style focuses on training and supporting the people around me.
Work life balance is incredibly important to me. Working with a large team allows me to spend quality time with my family and I work to make sure everyone can have that same balance if they want it as well. For me, having that balance makes me feel really fulfilled in my career – and my team members feel the same way.
“Mayer Brown gives everyone a chance to build and have an entire career in an exciting, fast paced environment that pays well and offers lots of opportunities.”
Niketa
Partner New York
At Mayer Brown, I have the opportunity to take ownership of my career and shape it to fit my passions. From DOJ investigations and month-long bench trials to 1,200 hours of pro bono work and collaboration with nonprofits, I get to work on the cases that interest me, develop the skills I need to grow as a lawyer and build a fulfilling, flexible career.
Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones or taking vacations to explore Croatian islands by yacht, it’s extremely empowering to know that the firm will support me professionally and personally.
“Partners trust me to be the last set of eyes on key client communications.”
Ondrej
Associate London
I’ve always been interested in technology, and once I realized that I am better at working with people than with code, I decided to use my analytical skills to find practical solutions for clients. Having qualified into the Intellectual Property team in London, I now advise tech businesses to help them make a positive impact.
Training at the firm is outstanding—from mentoring to formal and informal learning, there are countless opportunities to learn from experts. And thanks to the inclusive culture and shared respect for life outside of work, I’ve even been able to combine my interests with work events, like the European Cycle Challenge!
“The amazing people who challenge and support each other are a big part of Mayer Brown.”
Rachel
Partner London
Being part of a global firm is one of the best parts of my job. I get to speak with fascinating people from around the world on a daily basis and reflect on the factors that accompany that diversity. For example, I need to take into account the different political landscapes when advising in emerging markets.
Working in the banking and finance team at Mayer Brown means taking on high value transactions with a strong international focus. The quality of that work is matched by the outstanding support lawyers receive from the firm; whether it’s mentoring, training or understanding the personal commitments that inevitably arise, everyone here can feel confident that their progression and wellbeing are priorities.
“The firm is 100% supportive of family commitments and other circumstances that crop up.”
Stuart
Legal Consultant London
I became a lawyer because I was looking for an intellectually challenging career that was firmly rooted in practical problem solving. I chose law, joining the London office as a trainee solicitor, and have since spent my entire career at the firm. Now, I handle stimulating and complex litigation alongside a great team, helping clients with their most challenging disputes.
However, this role can be demanding, so it’s vital to be able to step away and recharge. Here, we benefit from an ideal balance between professional excellence and personal support.
“As a trainee, I was struck by how approachable and helpful the senior lawyers were.”
“Mayer Brown gives everyone a chance to build and have an entire career in an exciting, fast paced environment that pays well and offers lots of opportunities.”
Your Future
Mentoring & Support
We know you don’t find success by staying in your comfort zone. That’s why we encourage our trainees to be hands-on, taking responsibility for tasks that more-senior lawyers might do in other firms.
Although we believe it’s important to let our people learn by doing, we also know the value of support and mentoring in nurturing talent. Every trainee is assigned a mentor when they join us, providing the guidance and camaraderie that’s critical in the early stages of a career in law. And over time, by working and interacting with colleagues, trainees build informal relationships with a range of lawyers who can offer personal guidance and support.
